2 hrs agoThe curtain is falling on the Suzuki Ignis in India, marking the end of a car that dared to be different but never quite found mass appeal. After nearly a decade on sale, production has reportedly stopped, with dealerships no longer accepting new bookings and only limited stock remaining.Ā
Launched in 2017, the Ignis stood out with its quirky, crossover-inspired styling and urban-friendly design. It was fun, efficient, and uniqueābut that uniqueness may have worked against it. Many buyers found its design too polarising, especially in a market that favors more conventional looks.Ā
Another key issue was stagnation. While competitors evolved rapidly with better features and safety upgrades, the Ignis saw minimal updatesājust a single facelift in 2020. Over time, declining demand and monthly sales dropping below expectations signaled that its time was running out.Ā
Now, Maruti Suzuki appears ready to move on, reportedly planning a new micro-SUV to rival stronger performers in the segment.Ā
The Ignis didnāt failāit simply didnāt evolve fast enough. And in todayās fast-moving auto world, standing still is the quickest way to disappear.
