Some STIs may show little or no symptoms, which makes testing very important.
Early treatment can prevent serious complications.
This is such an important reminder. ⚠️ Many STIs are silent, so people might feel fine and assume nothing is wrong—but the damage can be serious and long-lasting, including infertility, organ damage, and increased vulnerability to other infections.
The delay in testing often comes from stigma, embarrassment, or lack of awareness. Some may fear judgment, while others simply don’t know the risks of untreated infections. Education and open conversations are key to encouraging early testing and treatment.
The takeaway is clear: proactive care saves lives and protects reproductive health. Testing isn’t shameful—it’s responsible. 💡
😄😄😄. Thanks sir . You are a nice guy. It fees so good to be connected dare i say KONNECTED to you.
Many delay because they dnt want to be body shamed, I Nigeria certain things aren't seen from the actual perspectives
You are very correct Chimyra dear. Seeing things from the wrong perspective is the very beginning of its complications. This why public health awareness campaigns is so important. Well spoken. You just hit the hammer on the head of the nail. The fear of what the result will be is major reason why so many people wont go for screening
People delay testing and treatments due to lack of information, little or no funds, fear of what the test out will be
The last point "the fear of not knowing what the outcome result will be " is the main reason why 90 % of people wont go for screening test. But the truth is that Diagnosis is not death neither is it a death sentence. It gives you the opportunity to readjust your life style by readjusting your choices. If you made bad choices which have brought you were you are then change your choices. But except you go for test , know your status, you may as well continue with your kind of life style thinking everything is normal just because there are little or no symptoms. i want to state categorically that " KNOWING THE STATUS OF YOUR HEALTH BY TEST AND DIAGNOSIS IS NOT A DEATH SENTENCE IF IT IS POSITIVE , BUT NOT GOING FOR A TEST TO GET A DIAGNOSIS AND KNOW YOUR STATUS IS THE VERY DEATH SENTENCE and it will you who passed it on your very self. thanks Amafesi for your comments and view. i will show up on your posts
You have a point 👍. being positive isn't a death sentence at all.its another opportunity to do things right, and with the right information, it'll definitely get better.
i love that. knowing your status on time can reduce complications and prolong your life too
Eternally truth indeed. early screening test is the best way out. thanks for viewing and commenting. Expect same gesture back
You’re right to highlight this! Many people delay testing or treatment for STIs for a mix of reasons:
Stigma and embarrassment: Fear of judgment from family, friends, or healthcare providers can stop someone from seeking help.
Lack of awareness: Some may not recognize the symptoms, especially since many STIs can be asymptomatic.
Denial or fear: People may hope the issue will go away on its own or fear a positive diagnosis.
Limited access to healthcare: Costs, distance, or privacy concerns can prevent timely testing and treatment.
Misinformation: Myths about STIs or treatment can discourage seeking professional care.
Early testing and treatment are crucial—not just for your health but also to protect partners and prevent long-term complications. 💡
It’s important to normalize conversations about sexual health and encourage routine testing.
Very correct. some others are even afraid of knowing their status. They say knowing will kill them faster than the disease itself. I think what we need here is some serious re-orientation. ...... Brotherly your gift to me is well received with heart full of gratitude and mouth filled with thanks . i appreciate you sir. you are the man. OSHEEEEE🙌. my hands are up
Some STIs may show little or no symptoms, which makes testing very important.
