A standard Whot deck consists of 54 cards with different shapes, numbers, and symbols such as circles, triangles, crosses, squares, and stars. There are also special cards that have unique functions, such as “Pick Two,” “Pick Three,” “Hold On,” “General Market,” and “Suspension.” These special cards add excitement and strategy to the game by affecting how other players take their turns.
The main objective of the Whot game is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in your hand. Players take turns placing a card that matches either the shape or the number of the top card on the playing pile. If a player does not have a matching card, they must pick one from the market (draw pile). The “Whot” card is a special card that can be used to change the suit, giving the player an advantage.
Strategy plays an important role in Whot, even though luck is also involved. Players must decide the best time to use special cards in order to block opponents or force them to pick more cards. Observing other players and planning moves carefully can increase the chances of winning.
Whot is more than just a game; it encourages social interaction, quick thinking, and friendly competition. It is easy to learn and enjoyable for people of all ages. Overall, the Whot game remains one of the most loved card games in Nigeria and continues to bring people together.
