4 hrs agoA former midwife has been found guilty in a disturbing case that has shocked communities and raised urgent questions about maternal care and accountability in childbirth services. The court ruled that her actions directly contributed to the death of a nine-day-old baby and caused serious harm to multiple mothers under her care. Investigations revealed a pattern of negligence, manipulation, and failure to properly respond to medical warning signs during pregnancies and labour.
According to evidence presented in court, the midwife ran a private birthing practice where she promised safe and “natural” deliveries. However, prosecutors showed that she ignored critical complications, failed to refer patients to hospitals when necessary, and in some cases administered medication intended to speed up labour without informing the mothers. These actions allegedly placed both mothers and newborns in extreme danger.
One of the most tragic outcomes involved a newborn who died just days after birth due to complications that experts said should have been identified and treated earlier. Families described feelings of betrayal, saying they placed full trust in a caregiver who was supposed to protect them during one of life’s most vulnerable moments.
The case has now been described as one of severe professional misconduct, highlighting how a breach of medical duty can have irreversible consequences. Authorities say sentencing will take place later, while victims continue to seek justice and closure for the harm caused.
