In China, the first steam-powered vehicle was built by Ferdinard Verbiest, a member of the Jesuit missionary, in 1672 as a toy for the Chinese Emperor. However, if we're talking about modern cars, Changan is China's oldest state-owned automaker, dating back to 1862 .

In Nigeria, the first locally made car was the Autonov1, produced by Professor Ayodele Awojobi in the 1970s. However, another notable mention is the Izuogu Z-600, produced by Ezekiel Izuogu in 1997, with 90% of its parts sourced locally.
