Born in 1973, Mkhwanazi built his career from the ground up, joining the South African Police Service in the early 1990s. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, eventually becoming a lieutenant-general and leading one of the country’s most complex policing provinces.
What sets him apart is his elite background. He was part of the Special Task Force—an intensely trained unit known for handling high-risk operations. This experience shaped his tough, no-nonsense approach to crime.
Mkhwanazi gained national attention when he briefly served as acting national police commissioner, proving his capability on a broader stage. But it is his outspoken nature that truly defines him. In 2025, he made explosive allegations against senior officials and politicians, accusing them of interfering in investigations and enabling criminal networks.
He has also shown remarkable courage, openly stating he is not afraid to risk his life in pursuit of justice. His recent testimonies highlighted deep concerns about corruption, missing case files, and weakened crime-fighting units within the system.
