2 hrs agoThe North West Provincial Government has officially launched a transformative digital era, moving its entire administrative foundation from outdated manual systems to a cutting‑edge, automated framework built for the future. Premier Lazarus Mokgosi revealed that, as of 1 April 2026, a new SmartGov platform is fully operational across all provincial departments — replacing paper‑based processes with seamless, integrated digital workflows.
This phased implementation is designed to ensure a stable transition while training officials and re‑aligning internal systems. SmartGov will streamline key functions such as procurement, invoice tracking, and contract management, boosting efficiency, accountability and transparency in government operations.
Beyond internal efficiencies, the digital shift empowers local businesses — especially small and emerging enterprises — by creating a more predictable and accessible environment for government engagement. Real‑time monitoring capabilities will also allow the Office of the Premier to track performance data instantly, enabling faster decision‑making and early risk detection.
Strengthened cybersecurity, cloud‑based productivity tools and partnerships for digital skills training underline a broader goal: to expand digital access throughout communities, government facilities, schools and health services, laying the foundation for a truly “Smart Province.”
