Many child support grant recipients in the Vhembe district of Limpopo remain anxiously awaiting their April payouts, with no communication from the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) about the missing funds.

Beneficiaries say they expected the money by now but haven’t received any SMS or update, leaving families uncertain and stressed about how they’ll cover essential costs. Frustration is rising especially among caregivers who count on these grants for food, transport, and day‑to‑day needs.

According to SASSA’s local spokesperson, Mavhungu Tshipuke, some payments are being delayed because the agency is currently reviewing eligibility records. Part of this process includes verifying life certificates and other details to ensure recipients truly qualify. Beneficiaries are urged to visit SASSA offices if they haven’t been paid so officials can sort out any issues.

While this review is meant to protect the integrity of the system, many recipients feel it’s happening at their expense, with poor communication adding to their worry. The lack of clear answers has left affected families in limbo as they seek updates and hope for swift resolution.
