In a bold move to counter the surge of cybercrime across the continent, cybersecurity giant Kaspersky has strengthened its partnership with AFRIPOL, creating a powerful alliance between private expertise and public law enforcement. The collaboration is not just symbolic—it is deeply practical, equipping African officers with the tools and knowledge needed to confront increasingly sophisticated digital threats.

Between late 2025 and early 2026, around 40 law enforcement officials from 23 African countries underwent intensive training focused on modern cyber defence strategies. These sessions went beyond theory, diving into real-world skills such as identifying malicious activity on Windows and Linux systems, analysing hacker behaviour, and using threat intelligence to detect complex attacks.

What makes this initiative stand out is its emphasis on collaboration. Cybercrime today is borderless, fast-evolving, and often too complex for any single organisation to tackle alone. By combining Kaspersky’s global threat intelligence with AFRIPOL’s regional coordination, the partnership creates a more unified and agile defence system across Africa.

This effort builds on a broader agreement signed in 2024, aimed at long-term cooperation through data sharing, technical support, and capacity building.

As Africa’s digital economy expands, initiatives like this signal a crucial shift: the continent is no longer just reacting to cybercrime—it is actively preparing to outsmart it.
