2 hrs agoa tense session at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, suspended Tshwane Metro Police Deputy Chief Umashi Dhlamini painted a deeply personal picture of his connection with Sergeant Fannie Nkosi—one he described not as professional, but “brotherly.”
According to Dhlamini, their bond stretches back more than three decades, evolving beyond friendship into something resembling family. He revealed that their relationship extended into personal matters, including family disputes, marriages, and even counseling sessions involving his wife. This closeness, he suggested, made their interactions natural and supportive, much like those between siblings.
However, this emotional portrayal contrasts sharply with the serious allegations hanging over both men. Nkosi has implicated Dhlamini in a tender rigging scandal, placing the deputy chief under intense scrutiny. Despite this, Dhlamini maintained that their relationship was rooted in trust and mutual support, not corruption.
The commission also probed whether this “brotherly” bond extended to Nkosi’s wider family, including his sibling Bheki. Dhlamini confirmed that it did, reinforcing the idea of a deeply intertwined relationship that blurred the lines between personal loyalty and professional boundaries.
As the inquiry unfolds, the key question remains: does this long-standing brotherhood explain the allegations—or complicate them even further?
